ISCIII
Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCIII) is a public research organization of national and international reference in biomedical research and public health.
ISCIII develops its activity withing Biomedical and Health research, Science funding, Provision of Scientific-technical services and consultancy and Academic education. The mision of ISCIII is to contribute to the improvement of citizens’ health and the fight against diseases, through the promotion of research and innovation in Health Sciences and Biomedicine, the provision of reference scientific-technical services and the development of teaching programs aimed at the Spanish National Health System.
BU-ISCIII
BU-ISCIII is the Bioinformatics Unit of the Institute of Health Carlos III.
The mission of the ISCIII's Bioinformatics Unit (BU-ISCIII) is to provide scientific and technical support in bioinformatics for clinical diagnostics, epidemiological and microbiological surveillance, and the development of genomic and clinical data platforms aligned with European standards. The unit supports ISCIII researchers in applying genomic sequencing technologies within the framework of Precision Medicine and public health. Its main activities include the development of bioinformatics tools tailored to genomic surveillance needs, promoting FAIR data principles, and participating in outbreak investigations and external quality assessments (EQAs).
Pathogen Data Network (PDN)
The Pathogen Data Network (PDN) is a global consortium aiming to provide infrastructure, tools, training, outreach and support to FAIR infectious-diseases data sharing and reuse. It will cover diverse biodata types, including host and pathogen genomics, transcriptomics, proteins, pathways and networks, imaging and cohorts.
ELIXIR-ES
ELIXIR is an intergovernmental organisation that brings together life science resources from across Europe. These resources include databases, software tools, training materials, cloud storage and supercomputers. Under Web portals you will find useful portals to support you in making your data and software FAIR. BU-ISCIII has been a node of INB-Elixir-ES since 2024.
